Track work and the nitty gritty…
I recently had to do some actual track work on the piece of track shown to correct a low spot in the track, with some further tie and ballast work as shown by the different texture. While at it I took some shots to show the not so clean world of railroading, the nitty gritty:
Switching on the Cincinnati Terminal…
Recent railfan action caught us down along the Ohio River as usual watching the local do its business. We first found the crew gathering up its paperwork in the small yard office, then heading out to switch out Paxton-Sullivan scrapyard:
Next up we watched as the crew picked up empty cars from Armitage, Stephen’s Grocery Distributors, and the team track:
Last, we watched as the crew delivered a boxcar to the team track plus a PC reefer to Stephen’s, and I’m assuming a wandering car or a “hot” car of chemicals to Monsanto:

Coming soon….
Coming soon to the layout are a few detail parts including some brooms to place for sweeping out switch points including one that will be placed on the front of locomotive 5628, plus some steel deck loading plates that were used and placed between the gap from a boxcar door to a loading dock. At the same time, this guy just arrived off a purchase from eBay. This is an Athearn ready to roll reefer for the Southern Railway that I’ve been looking for awhile. I used to see many of these alongside all the produce houses along the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati:
