Finished and on the layout....!

Here is the finished Downtown Deco building flat now on the layout. I had to lay down a thin strip of cork to sit the building on so to keep it aligned straight. This was then covered with dirt and industrial dirt plus some additional scrap thrown around it. Extra ballast was added on the end track to cover a small gap as well. Photos below:

Extending the siding....

Yesterday I did what I should have done to begin with, and that's extend the team track siding to accommodate an entire freight car. This was a pretty quick project, finished this morning with glueing the ballast down and installing the track bumper. Photos below:

Additional backdrop.....

Yesterday I finally installed another piece of backdrop I had to cover the short wall at the scrapyard end of the layout. This is in preparation also to accommodate the addition of a background building coming soon hopefully for that end that will cover most of the wall section. More on the building later but for now, here's before and after shots of the wall section:

Working on the railroad.....

Some changes today on the layout as I'm getting things changed up a bit and adding a few more things before I submit the layout for publication.

Today I extended the siding to actually go into the fuel and oil dealer so as to free up the track along the runs behind Stephen's Grocery distributor as the mainline. The other end of the layout where the scrapyard is on the short wall will go a flat background building.

For today's project I moved a few fences and structures to accommodate the extended siding. Cork was put down then a section of flex track, then ballast. Now I'm able to also get two tank cars into the siding. Photos below:

A huge thank you....!

Just a shout out to all those looking at this website for my layout for the fact it just turned over 10,000 views yesterday! So a BIG thank...
