Here is the latest edition to the layout. This is a Walther’s car that’s simply been weathered and put into service. This was purchased new to replace the previous acid tank car that simply was turned into a gasoline hauler, now converted back to an acid car as shown in the photos below as GATX 5071.
The Gulf tank car was weathered with black grey acrylic paint to tone down the gloss black color and to weather it followed by an application of Monroe Models soot black powder, finished up with some engine oil spillage by MiG Ammo. Dirt colored acrylic paint was sprayed on the underside and ends to simulate dirt being kicked up on the car. Photos below show the car out of the box and now in service:
